Suggest a shop or library

Bookpile's listings are maintained by hand. If you know a good independent bookshop, library, or book-tracking site that belongs here, please open an issue or pull request on Codeberg.

What we're looking for

Local bookshops - independent shops with a physical location and an online search by ISBN. City-level entries are preferred over chains. The shop should still be open and actively selling books.

Libraries - public lending libraries with an online catalogue that can be searched by ISBN. University libraries are welcome if they lend to the general public.

National chains - larger chains with broad coverage across a country. These appear in a separate section below local shops.

Book trackers - sites like StoryGraph or Goodreads where readers track what they're reading. These appear in the global "Book tracking" section, regardless of location.

What we're not adding

Affiliate link programmes, price-comparison tools, marketplaces that primarily sell used goods from individual sellers, or any service that tracks readers across sites. Bookpile has no affiliate relationships and we intend to keep it that way.

How to suggest

The simplest way is to open an issue with the shop name, city and country, homepage URL, and the direct search URL (replacing the ISBN with the placeholder {{ISBN}}). For example:

Name: Strand Book Store
City: New York, United States
URL: https://www.strandbooks.com/search?q={{ISBN}}

If the shop has a special focus, please mention it, for example:

  • "Indie" — independent shop, not a chain
  • "Used" — primarily sells used or second-hand books
  • "Queer" — LGBTQ+ focused or explicitly welcoming shop
  • "Childrens" — specialises in children's books

You can also submit a pull request directly against priv/websites.json if you're comfortable with JSON.

Alternatively just send an email to bodo@tasche.me. But this will be the slowest way to add a new site to bookpile.
